ABOUT ME
Florida born. Georgia raised. California chosen.
My name is Samantha Sayer and I am a teacher. I was born in Florida, but only lived there for a few years before moving to Georgia. I grew up in Georgia schools and got my teaching degree from Armstrong Atlantic State University (changed names to Armstrong State University, now part of Georgia Southern, I believe) in Savannah, Georgia. I have always had a passion for working with kids, until I got into teaching. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE teaching and working with kids, but being a teacher is far more than just teaching. There is tons of paperwork, meetings, grades, meetings, best practices, meetings, evaluations, and did I mention meetings? There is a lot on the plate of a teacher which is why I decided to create this blog.
I recently got married, sold my house, bought an RV, packed up all of our stuff, and moved across the country with my husband and dog to California. During this trip, I realized that I could really help teachers in a way that not everyone could. I love technology and learning about new innovative apps and tools that can be used in the classroom. My problem was that when I learned about these tools and apps while I was teaching, I felt that there was not enough time to learn all I could about the app or tool before I had to start using it in the classroom. I have created this blog as a way to review and explain different apps and tools that I think students could benefit from using in the classroom. Teachers, this blog is to help you with that technology tool that was explained to you in a short 30 minute meeting- even though you only thought about how you could get through to that one child or how you need to change a lesson for tomorrow to go better- it is for you.
